Our volunteers are AWESOME and the heartbeat of Power2Inspire. There are so many ways you can get involved in helping us bring alive our vision of “Inclusion through Sport”.

Whether you’ve regularly got loads of spare time, or just an occasional hour to spend, we would LOVE to hear from you. You don’t need to be sporty(!), super-fit or highly-skilled just get in touch and we’ll find a way for you to make a big impact.

“It has been a real eye-opener to see how the community can come together and to see how people with such a variety of disabilities can live their lives. It was the sort of event that restores my faith in humanity.” (Corporate volunteer at University Power House Games, 2018)

Helping with an event

Helping us run an event is the biggest way in which you can help. We run all kinds of events throughout the year, and need lots of help checking people in, hosting sensory stations, helping a team of children have a go at a new inclusive sport.

If you can help us run an event, here’s what you might expect:

  1. Training for any role you might be asked to carry out
  2. Details in advance of where and what time you are needed
  3. A T-shirt to mark you out as a member of our Team!
  4. If you regularly help us and interact with vulnerable children or adults, a DBS check
  5. Most of all, GREAT FUN!!

We have some fabulous events coming up in the rest of 2021 and 2022, so if you’d like to join us as a Power2Inspire volunteer then fill in the form below and we’ll be in touch with further details:

“The overriding emotion of the day was joy.”

“Happy and fulfilled.”

“Yeah it was fun and made me happy.”

And as a representative of Power2Inspire this is what we expect of our volunteers:

  1. Understand our Vision and Mission and be prepared to let participants know all about it -–”Inclusion through sport,” and “No one left on the bench!”
  2. A high standard of behaviour.  Please read our Volunteering Policy but in particular, be a good role model, comply with all applicable laws, treat everyone with dignity and respect, treat any data you receive from participants with respect, and comply with the event organisers’ reasonable directions especially those concerning health and safety.
  3. Some of the participants may be vulnerable, so if in your role you interact with them, please familiarise yourself with our Safeguarding Policy.  And please be aware that as a volunteer you will be covered by our Whistle Blowing policy so if you need or wish to raise a concern please do speak out.
  4. Follow the event’s guidance on photography – both taking photographs of others at the event (as some participants may not want their photo taken) and in giving consent (or not) to having your photo taken.

As a general rule we do not reimburse our volunteers, but with prior written agreement we may reimburse reasonable, evidenced, expenses.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for Power2Inspire, and especially their PowerHouseGames. It is very rewarding to watch the fully inclusive teams come together during the course of the day, playing different sports where each team member can express themselves individually and collectively. The smiles and laughs of all the participants show that the Power2Inspire model really can bring the benefits of inclusive sport to every community.” (Individual volunteer at University Power House Games, 2020)

Other ways to help

There are other, non-event, opportunities too: if you are a whizz at social media, love editing video or still photographs, would like to edit our Newsletter, or just do some admin, all these roles and tasks are invaluable to us.
