Power2Inspire is kicking off this Spring 2021 with Run Everyone, an event that aims to promote and showcase inclusive sport in action.

With the postponement of the Cambridge Half Marathon (CHM) to the 17th of October, the CHM have created a virtual running event that gives anybody – and we mean anybody – the opportunity to participate.

The idea for Run Everyone was initially sparked by a conversation surrounding the fact that the conventional half marathon is limited by the nature of the event – some cannot run 13 miles and wheelchairs are not allowed for reasons of space and safety. Run Everyone is an opportunity not only to encourage inclusive sport, but to demonstrate that by adapting a traditional event, anyone can join.

At Power2Inspire, we are working towards a society where everyone can enjoy sport together, regardless of age, gender, faith, ethnicity or disability.

– John Willis, Founder and Ceo of Power2Inspire

Each Run Everyone participant will be asked to sign up to run for a team, with a £25 entry fee to the organisers. All funds raised will enable Power2Inspire to expand our university PowerHouseGames to at least two additional universities. These PowerHouseGames are inclusive sports days that bring together university students, state, independent and SEN school pupils, led by corporate volunteers.

We are very excited to be launching Run Everyone. During the past year, it has become clearer than ever before that physical exercise, as well as creating a sense of togetherness, are essential to our society.

– Adam Moffat, Event Director of the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

We have created #Power2InspireUK as our team name to appear at the top of the team list. Please encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to sign up. This is an ideal opportunity for those less mobile to join in, one amazing inclusive community working together, and register with team #Power2InspireUK. Once you and your peers have signed up, invite others to join your team and get training! The bigger we can make our team, the better.

As a Run Everyone participant, you will be able to log the distance you run, walk, or wheel, as long as it meets the 100m minimum. This required distance makes it easy to include children or persons unable to complete a half marathon: however, you will most certainly be surprised by the distances that you and those around you cover over the course of a month! You have the entirety of March to take on the challenges that you and your team set for yourselves – and to exceed your own expectations!

It is our mission to bring community back to the workplaces and clubs of Cambridge by encouraging everyone to get running. Whether you run 100m or 100km, every step counts towards the final goal.

– Adam Moffat, Event Director of the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

Not only is this event open to everyone, from first-time runners to seasoned athletes, but it also gives you the flexibility to run as much and as far as you want, be it for one day or every day of the month. Every run counts!

All participants will receive a T-shirt and medal for competing, and the more kilometres your team completes, the closer you will get to the top of the leaderboard!

Our goal is to have at least 1,000 participants join us throughout March, with at least 100 disabled people, 10 media and press officers to help spread the word, and £2,500 total funds raised.

Join us this March as we step into the spring with a fresh, goal-oriented, and above all inclusive mindset, to regain the sense of togetherness that we can all achieve through sport and ever-expanding communities.

It really doesn’t matter who you are or what you believe, what’s important is that you get involved in sport alongside other people and have lots of fun. We’ll be entering an inclusive team and look forward to walking, wheeling and running in competition with other businesses and organisations across Cambridge in March.
