Shelford
Power2Inspire is thrilled to announce our second SuperSensory1K, as part of the annual Shelford Fun Run on Sunday 29th September 2024. The SS1K will involve a 1,000m flat course and, as a truly inclusive event, you can travel the distance in any way you want, including walking, wheeling and running.
To add to the fun there are five sensory stations along the route: celebrating smell, touch, sight, hearing and taste.
It will take place from 10.30am on Sunday 29th September 2024. It’s all part of the annual Shelford Fun Run 5k (just outside Cambridge), and we are delighted to be bringing back our innovative and inclusive Super Sensory 1K to this brilliant event.

Where is the SS1K going to be held?
The Shelford SS1K 2024 is being held at the Great Shelford Recreation Ground, south of Cambridge city centre. The ground is located behind the Great Shelford Memorial Hall on Wollards Lane.
Shelford Fun Run have arranged for a limited number of car parking spaces to be reserved for blue badge holders in the east side car park of Great Shelford Memorial Hall (on the left as you face the front of the hall). The west side car park will be closed to all vehicles for the duration of the event as it comprises part of the 5k route.
During the road closure, there will be marshals stationed at the turning into Woollards Lane, from the Tunwells Lane/London Road traffic light junction, who can help to direct you. For more information about the accessible spaces and parking for larger vehicles and WAVs please get in touch with the Shelford Fun Run team at: funrun@shelfordplayscape.org
How much does it cost?
The event this year is ABSOLUTELY FREE, thanks to the generosity of our fabulous sponsors, illumina. We want to encourage as many people as possible to take part in this truly inclusive event.
Will there be accessible toilets?
YES! There will be a mobile changing places toilet coming (in addition to standard accessible toilets in the hall and pavilion). The ‘Revolootion’ van will be located next to the memorial hall, in the closed section of car park, thanks to sponsorship from Costello Medical
Thank you to our sponsors!
We are so grateful to our fabulous sponsors. Not only are they supporting the event financially, each sponsor will run one of the five sensory stations – Taste, Sight, Smell, Hearing and Touch. We can’t wait to find out how they will help us explore each sense as we go round the event!
