PowerHouseGames at Bisham Abbey 2022

Power2Inspire teams up with Olympians to host latest PowerHouseGames at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre with support from VISA

Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre was brought to life for the PowerHouseGames on Wednesday 29 June. Twelve teams, made up of volunteers from VISA, school children and sports stars came together to compete in a series of inclusive sports in our latest PowerHouseGames.

Over 30 children from The Wren School, Bradfield College and Brookfields SEN School took part in the exciting sports day. They competed in an array of sports, including walking football, blind football, new age kurling, sitting volleyball, sitting netball, zonal basketball, goalball, kwik cricket, tri-golf, short tennis and boccia.

Olympic gold medalist rower Paul Bennett, World Champion rower Ollie Cook, double World Champion motorcyclist and winter Paralympian Talan Skeels-Piggins and Paralympic swimmer Katie Crowhurst were amongst a whole host of sports stars who were also in attendance.

John Willis, Chief Ambassador and founder, Power2Inspire, said:

“PowerHouseGames are incredible sports days using adapted games and sports. All the activities are especially designed to be accessible and fun for everyone, old and young, with disabilities and none, sporty and not – and in so doing are wonderfully inclusive.

“We welcomed stars from a variety of sports who have achieved fantastic accolades in their careers. It was great to have them join in with the accessible games and inspire the children.

“I would like to thank our fantastic volunteers from Visa and our sport stars – and of course Bisham Abbey for hosting the PowerHouseGames.”

Steve Shuttlewood, Sports Relationship Manager, Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, said:

“Power2Inspire do a fantastic job providing sports opportunities for everyone to access. It was an honour to be able to provide a venue to support the work they are doing, and continue to do, in the community.

“We’re proud to be able to host so many inspiring athletes for the PowerHouseGames. Seeing young people having fun in an environment that welcomes – and is accessible to – everyone is exactly what it is all about.”
